Greens set up Inquiry into train failures
The Victorian Upper House last night supported a Greens motion to set up an inquiry into the reasons for failures in the provision of metropolitan and V/Line train services.
Greens transport spokesperson Greg Barber MLC said: "The ongoing high level of delayed trains and the catastrophic collapse of services during the January heatwave show a system in ongoing decline. We need to stop the tender until the causes of the crisis are understood and way forward found."
"The failures and the incompetence have gone on and on under both Labor and Liberal governments. A new contract can't be struck if it simply locks this in."
The inquiry commenced in March and interested persons are able to make submissions at: http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/council/trainservices/
