Sue Pennicuik has moved a motion in parliament that the state government should abandon plans for the construction of the Peninsula Link or Frankston Bypass and instead implement local and less costly solutions to reduce bottlenecks and congestion on existing arterial roads and upgrade public transport services in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
The proposed route for the bypass will pass through the Pines Flora and Fauna, habitat for the endangered southern Brown Bandicoot, and will destroy remnant native bushland on private land including at Westerfield where this greater egret has been recently visiting daily.
